The Good and the Bad.

Wow.... I never would have imagined that I could go nearly 5 weeks without posting. My computer has been down and it's been agony :) I have a "computer guy" that usually solves any problems I have quite efficiently but he had to give my laptop over to a specialist and I have NO IDEA what's going on with it, only that it's been 9 days and he's still "waiting for the parts." Since the problem isn't my hard drive, my husband recovered that and has connected it to a temporary computer so I now have the pics to do this post.

Ok that's the bad. The good (for me, anyways) is that I also disappeared for awhile on vacation. It was our first real family holiday so really there was only one place we all wanted to go. Disney World. The kids were sooooo excited and I was pretty thrilled too. I always wanted to go as a kid but it never happened so I enjoyed myself as much as they did! Sorry......gotta post some pics....

You'll notice my son Nathan is missing from this photo. He thought Belle was too beautiful and intimidating to pose with :)

I felt really bad though that I was unable to do my post for Just Tracy's on the 1st. So better late than never........
This months challenge is to create a card/layout/altered item that features a HAT.
You still have time to enter. The contest runs all month. The selected winner will receive $15 to spend at their online store, which is jammed full of the latest products!

I didn't have any images that I was too crazy about with a hat so I grabbed this off a free clip art site....kinda worked around a sketch I saw in PaperCrafts and came up with this card.

Also I like to say a huge thank you to JAN for the great award!!

One last thing.
I'm hosting a great digital software give-away starting in the next couple of days so I hope you'll check back then for all the details!

Head Over Heels.

I wanted to make this card ages ago when Moxie Fab had a "playing card" challenge. At the time I was too busy with other things but the idea stayed in my head. Since it's loooooove day tomorrow it finally got done.
My hubby and I have big plans for Valentine's.
Make some popcorn and break open season three of Fringe.
The crazy thing is that I'm happier having a quiet night in than going out anywhere.

This card is meant to be flipped over. Then it reads like this...

Easter.

I've locked in on a craft show at the end of March so I figure I'd better start hittin' the Easter cards.
This one uses the sketch over at The Paper Variety and today is the last day to play along. I would have gotten it done faster but I became soooo involved with the Hunger Games books. Couldn't put them down!

Now that I'm back in the real world I also have a Love Day card that I hope to find the time to post later today or tomorrow.

Thanks,
Farrah

Having Fun.

That's what these Valentine's cards were to make....fun!
They're for my daughter's grade 2 class. I first read about the scratch card technique about a year ago and have been waiting for a chance to use it. The "Around the House" challenge at Moxie Fab World was just the motivation I needed.
It's super easy to make. Two parts paint to one part dish detergent, spread it onto contact paper and let it dry. Then you can cut the strips to any size you need.

This is the front,

I put some kid approved jokes on the back, Valentine related,

A small piece of double sided tape holds the Popsicle stick in place yet allows it to easily peel off.

All Things Flowing.

I'm not sorry to see the last of January. Really, it's my least favourite month. Too long, cold and dark.
February I like. It's short (although it has an extra day this year), has Family Day, which for us is Tobogganing Day, lovely Valentine's Day, and for me.....most importantly.....today is my boys' 5th birthday!! I'm so looking forward to decorating their cake while they're at school this afternoon!

Our challenge for February at Just Tracy's Crafts is

THINGS THAT ARE FLOWING

So be sure to include something "flowing" and play along this month. The fab prize for the winner is $15 to spend at Just Tracy's online store which carries all the latest and greatest products. There is also the TOP 3 award up for grabs.

I did something with my card that I don't normally do...... left it without a sentiment. I wanted the oversized FLOWING flower diecut to be the focal point and went minimal with the other embellishments.

Thanks for stopping by, I look forward to seeing your creations,
Farrah

B/W Thanks.

Hello all,
I have to keep this short and sweet as it's almost time to pick up the kids from school. I like to leave a bit early so I can spend 20 minutes alone with my Kindle before the bell rings :) After that there's no hint of quiet until 8 pm !

I made this card for the challenge at CAS-ual Fridays.

Only black and white allowed. Tricky for me, that's why I wanted to play along. Guess I enjoy torturing myself.

You can't tell from the pics, but the circles are all adhered with foam tape.

Shabby-ing It Up.

Ok, my first card for 2012. Feeling good to be back sitting at my desk, everyone falling into old routines. Today we got a nice little snow storm. The first one this winter so I wasn't as irritated as usual when I shovelled the driveway ;)

I went with a vintage look for this card. Tons of inking and distressing. The butterflies were first stamped with polka dots, the sprayed with glimmer mist, then inked with both pink and black.

The sentiment is from We R Memory Keepers, as is the papers.

As I promised myself..... I made sure to fancy up the inside.
