New Addition.

This Christmas I received a new little bundle of joy. A KINDLE!!! I couldn't be happier! No more rushing around to different libraries hunting down the book I'm looking for. Now I have them ALL right at my fingertips.
Like all newborns, my Kindle needs to be protected and enjoys being swaddled. So I made it a cozy.

I'm quite glad the Christmas holidays are over though, terribly exhausting. Super fun watching the kids having such a great time and travelling to visit everyone ,but now I just want some quiet, crafty time again. And to read a few good books.

I Swear.....

.......this post is not to blatantly show off how cute my kids school pictures are. Really, I'm just sharing a couple of things I've been working on.

These are for both sets of grandparents. I was gonna make a frame for myself too, but decided I'd prefer to make one in plain white and let the kids decorate and colour it. It'll give us something to do during the 2 weeks they have off school:)
For these challenges -
Pollycraft. PUNCH IT
Crafty Cardmakers. USE IT 3 TIMES
And speaking of my kids getting crafty, they had fun making this sculpture out of Polymer clay. They each made a snowman then I stuck a toothpick through them and into the base for support, then baked it.

They'd like to enter it into this challenge -
Craft Your Days Away. SNOWMEN

Merry Christmas !!!!!!

Uhmmm...I'll See.

That was my mantra while making this card. It's been a while since I played along in any challenges, so I was all set to go, desk clean, and fingers itching to start. I decided to use the challenge at CAS-ual Fridays as inspiration.

And I knew I wanted to make a Christmas card. I decided to use poinsettia -ish shaped flowers as a mask and mist around them. I own 3 different mist colours but they're all very light and I wanted something bolder, so I decided to ink up a toothbrush and flick it on to the paper. That was when I first paused, thought "will this even work?...... Uhm...... I'll see" I also worried about how the flower/leaves cutouts were being used for masking. I don't have any removable adhesive and I knew even the smallest bit of tape would ruin the paper so I flattened the flowers as snug against the paper as possible but was all the misting and ink flicking gonna blow them out of place? Uhmmm well I guess I'll see.

I used gold mist first. It's so sparkly when the light hits it at a good angle. Then added blue and purple ink....the flowers didn't even budge!

Lastly, to my loyal readers, the craft show went very well! I had a ton of fun, met some really great people, and made enough money to make it all worth it. I'm already looking forward to doing another one next year.

2-For-1.

I finally managed to get the time for some pics of the Exploding Box cards that I mentioned in an earlier post.
Between knit picking over last minute craft show details and playing waaaayyyyy too much Just Dance with the kids (extremely addictive game) I'm exhausted! So I'm putting both cards into this one post.
This is my Christmas Box card.

Bright Christmas.

This card is for this weeks challenge at CAS-ual Fridays. Tag You're It.

My first idea was to have the card be mostly computer generated.

Not bad but I decided it would look better if I used stamps. Doesn't it always?! Plus that bundle of twine..... supposed to be a pom-pom. Apparently, unlike yarn or thread, twine just doesn't fluff out into a pom-pom! Live and learn!
This is the second attempt...

...... I like it better this way.

Thanks,
Farrah

Over the Edge.

Too long since my last post. I've been getting a lot done, just not taking the time to post it. 3 weeks til the craft show so it's all been rush rush rush. And I made a couple exploding box cards that (in my opinion) turned out great so I was gonna get some pics today and share them but when I opened them up a bunch of the pieces fell off! Apparently my All Purpose Super Heavy Duty Glue should actually be labelled All Purpose Super Heavy Duty Glue*
*only pretends to work on acetate. Will hold tight for 3 days then promptly dissolve.

Tomorrow I will fix them with my always faithful glue gun.
Today I show you my card that I made for,

CAS-ual Fridays and the Champion Medallions challenge at Moxie Fab World.

This card also uses acetate. I've given it a pre-emptive re-gluing.

I Love Kit Kats.

And I love Halloween. We all had a great time trick-or-treating and the kids had a blast. Also, that last sentence shows how hip I'm becoming.... click HERE to see why!
Ok so now it's November. That means we have a new challenge starting at Just Tracy's Crafts!
It's a sketch.

Flip it, rotate it, make a card, make a layout, so many fun options. This month we're sponsored by our very own Linda! She's a Stampin' Up demonstrator so you know the prize is outstanding!

I personally enjoyed this sketch as it has so many elements, I found I had a few ideas for what to do with it but as I needed a little boy's birthday card, this is what I came up with.

A lot of tissue paper and a lot of bright colours.

I hope you'll play along, you have all month!!

Floral Frenzy.

It's been too long since my last post! Went into a bit of a slump. I didn't know what to work on and the few things I started turned out like junk. Weird, maybe I had burnout because I've been cramming so hard for the craft show! I decided to have a look through some of my stash for ideas. It helped and I made this card.

Toy Inspired.

I came across this photo on the Internet. Genius. She used a Slinky to display her business cards and what an impact! See the post for yourself if you'd like at A La Mode Stuff.
Sometimes I have trouble with sleep. I wouldn't say it's insomnia because I'm ok falling asleep, I just often wake through the night at have a difficult time getting back to sleep. I've learned not to fight it (only makes things worse!) and let my mind wander. So thinking about the Slinky cardholder at 3 a.m. lead me to think about other childhood toys and this card idea formed. My next sleepless night I'll see if I can come up with an envelope for it :)

Tricky to make and even trickier to get a good pic!

Just Tracy's Challenge.

A giant thank you to everyone who played along last month!!
This month our theme is ANYTHING GOES!!!!! Love that right?! We're making it so easy for October. Play along
here!
The sponsor is Whoopsi Daisy and they've generously offered 4 sheets of digis to the winner. I love their cutesy images and used one for my card.

Other than the image, everything else is old supplies that I've been hoarding for too long.

Let's Go.

So I was feeling bad because I haven't played at City Crafter in too long. I decided that whatever the challenge was - I was gonna get involved. They ask that you scraplift the guest designers card.

Use the colours, or any element from the card that strikes you. I took the layout and the "things that fly" theme and made this card.

A few of my favourite things on this card. Tissue paper, felt, and even some out-of-my-budget die cuts and Webster's Pages embellishments. My local scrapbooking store had a huge going out of business sale and put everything at 50%, and then 70% off!! I picked up a ton of goodies.
Also for Flutterby Wednesday. ANYTHING GOES
I'll be back tomorrow for the launch of our new challenge at Just Tracy's Crafts.
Thanks,
Farrah

3 + 1

I made this for the CAS-ual Friday challenge.

Three shades of pink, on Kraft cardstock. Tricky card to execute and I still can't tell what I think of it. But fun to try something new. I hand-drew the flowers, then traced them with a thin line of glue to hold the thread in place. I have an idea for a card similar to this with multicoloured braided threads, I'm looking forward to trying that.

All Throught the House.

Quick post, I'm super tired but I know I won't have a chance to get on here this weekend. In an earlier post I mentioned that I was looking forward to the day one of the kids had to stay home from school and then I would get some one-on-one time with just them. Well it happened today, soooo early in the school year. Nathan has a minor cold, nothing serious but enough that I couldn't send him to school. And yes, it was GREAT having the afternoon just with him. I read the library books that we don't always get time time for, and played a couple of games of Candyland. It was fun. But poor Adam was terribly frightened at the thought of being at school alone. He begged me all morning to let him stay home and I felt bad but I had to say no. (For those who don't know - my boys are 4 year old identical twins and being separated is not something they're used to, or want to get used to!) I explained to him that I understood his anxiety and that it's fine to feel that way, but that he would have a good time and end up being glad I made him go. Once we got to the school and he realized that it was really gonna happen he braved up. He told me "ok, I'll have a good day." and walked in without hesitation. He did have a good day, said he was happy he went, and I feel so so so proud of him. Not such a quick post. I guess this was like therapy for me because I really did second guess my decision to send him, was worried he actually wouldn't be able to handle it, and he showed me what a great kid he's become.
Ok, here's my card.
